Baseball Saved Us

We read the book Baseball Saved Us, by Ken Mochizuki this week.  It was about a boy's experience growing up on a Japanese Internment camp during World War II.  He learns a lot about acceptance and confidence as he proves himself on the baseball field.  What do you think about the book and the author?

I thought the athur was very descriptived. The baseball saved us reminds me of a lot of things. One it connects because you can be stuck in situations like that too. I also proud of that boy for never giving up and staying strong no matter what anybody says.

Well I thought this book was very thought out and that the authur felt lik the boy. He really put his feelings into his writing you could feel his frustration as the gard watched him.
I could see a visual of his face and i could hear the croud roaring, and how he kind of zoomed out all the noise as he stared at the gard.

I think the book is a rather tragic expirence for the people who lived through it. I think the author had to live through this or one of his relitives because he sounds emotionaly attached to this who time period.

The author of Baseball Saved Us was very descriptive and i was surprised that the guard was happy for the boy when he hit the ball because you would imagine a guard being mean not nice.

I think that the author was very descriptive and didnt repeat a lot of words. He used many different descriptive words not all of the same ones. I think the book was great and kinda sad because being at that camp would be frustrated and scary. I believed in the boy the whole time!!!

This book was A-MAZ-ING! It's rude how he was innocent and was sent to a prison in the middle of nowhere. I wonder how people treated him after all this. I'm proud of how he wasn't listening to the haters.I'd never be able to do it with all the peer presure. Like how I tried out for a musical and didn't make it because of peer preasure. Let them go hating but don't let them change you. If anyone tries to change you just say NO! And if anyone makes fun of you...(I came up with this. ) say, If your opinion mattered to me I would be offened. You show your pride kid! Wow...I'm acting like an adult. It doesn't matter if you are black or white Michael Jackson said. :3 You be who you wanna be! :D :D :D I love his spirit. Wait..I'm acting like I'm talking to him..IS that a good thing? Oh well, to me it is!

I think the boy in this story is very brave,i know if I were him I would just a bit more worried about where I am!Im very shy to people I dont know,so I probably would not be brave enough to have even participated in baseball!

I dont like the way that they trapped up innocent people. They could have put them somewhere where living is more substainable

It was a good book. This book was so good because, it explains how the people who were locked up in basically a jail type thing had fun. And for fun they played baseballl. People they knew and wernt locked up they send them bats, uniforms, balls, and baseball mits!

It was unfair that they treated him that way just because he was Japanese! This just goes to show that even though you look different we're all the same! :D

I thought that this book was also very thought through. I loved the detail and the beautiful melody that sweep through the words. What I mean by saying that is that the peaces wording really went together. Its like you could see the kids eyes widing as the ball shot threw the air like a rocet.
Over all it was very well thought out and it put very disciptive images in your head.
